VMFA 314 at ChuLai (left) — Sandbags on roof to deter wind from removing panels; patches on hut's woodwork to keep out monsoon rains and wind-blown sand; spigot used for brushing teeth, shaving. Beneath huts roamed dog-sized rats.




Photo below shows hooches provided the Marines of HMM-165 at Ky Ha. Its foldup windows were utilized for their abilities
to dry just washed uniforms.
